Announcing 'Rae on the Street' film still series

Rae on the Street (2024), film still, photography: Jonathan Bogarin

As we say goodbye to 2024 and brace for the year ahead, I am grateful for my activist immigrant grandmother who came of age in the tenements of the Lower East Side, inspiring me to follow her stories.

I am pleased to share, 'Rae on the Street' a series of film stills from (and to support) my film-in-process. These scenes channel my grandmother Rae – appearing dressed as I remember her – as she wanders/ haunts the former site of the Lower East Side tenements. Filmed by brilliant director/cinematographer Jonathan Bogarin.

This series is available as signed 8 x 11 archival prints for contributors to my film, Paulina ($100). Click here for more information.

About the film: I was investigating the mysteries of my grandmother's past in Poland when my life became unexpectedly intertwined with the story of a stranger—a Polish Jewish woman named Paulina. I take the audience on my journey between Poland and the US, the past, present, and future, to share this majestic story of lives drawn together by trajectories of loss and desire that carry across generations.
